Diana Marques. Graduated in Biology, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. Completed several courses on Design and Scientific Illustration before attending the post-graduate course in Scientific Illustration, University of California, USA. Currently teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts (Master of Design) and collaborates with the Institute of Education and Sciences, University of Évora (Master in Illustration). Works as a freelancer in Portugal and maintains collaborations with international clients such as Natural History Museum of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, where she worked for many years. Her curriculum include several participation in exhibitions, internships on illustration in prestigious natural history museums like New York and Queensland (Australia), communications in congress, journals and blogues. Plays an active role in professional illustrators associations.

Nuno Farinha. Graduated in Biology (FCUL, 1993), works as professional illustrator since 1990 having specialised in Scientific Illustration and Communication Design, with particular focus on Digital Scientific Illustration, which is pioneering in its use in Portugal. His work is characterized by a great thematical and technical diversity, and comprises more than 4190 projects and edition of more than 420 publications (including books, papers and posters), made for various sectors as the Oceanarium of Lisbon/Expo'98, CTT, Águas de Portugal, EPAL, Museu de Serralves, Museu Nacional de História Natural, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, or National Geographic Magazine-PT. In 2001 is invited to attend the second edition of the most prestigious work in the field - The Guild Handbook of Scientific Illustration (Elaine Hodges). As a certified trainer, has taught more than 65 courses in scientific illustration and participated in the teaching of various disciplines at university level (Universidade de Évora, Instituto Piaget de Viseu, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria). Awarded several prizes in Portugal, Europe and the United States, namelly the Stuart Grand Prix of National Press (Category of Illustration'05). His work was recognized in several national and international exhibitions, as the following: commemorative exhibition 150 years of the Smithsonian Institution - "Picturing Natural History" (Washington, USA, 1996), and the latest editions of "Focus on Nature" from the New York State Museum.

Ana Teresa Bígio. Graduated in Biology Applied to Marine Animal Resources, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. Concluded in 2005 a Post-graduate course in Design and Visual Culture (Scientific Illustration) in IADE, and in 2007, also in IADE, the Master of Design and Visual Culture with a thesis titled «Scientific Illustration - the use of image in Biological Sciences». She is currently a PhD student in Education Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies, New University of Lisbon. Member of the Center of Philosophy of Sciences, University of Lisbon, and researcher in the FCT project «Image in Science and Art». She is also assistant professor of Digital Image and Animation in the Master of Designa and Visual Communication and Illustration at the graduate course in Fotography and Design (IADE). In parallel develops work of scientific illustration as freelancer.

Pedro Salgado. Graduated in Biology, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, 1984. Concluded his Master in Scientific Communication (Illustration) in 1989 at the University of California, USA. Member since 1988 of GNSI (Guild of Natural Science Illustrators). With illustrations awarded internationally, his work appears in several scientific and popular publications. Has 20 years of experience in teaching Scientific Illustration, and is responsible for the formation of a new generation of scientific illustrators in Portugal. Professor in Master of Design (FBAUL), Master of Illustration (ESAP), and Master of Artistic Anatomy (FBAUL/FCB). Coordinator and Professor in Master of Scientific Illustration at ISEC/UE. Freelancer. Founder and Coordinator of Grupo do Risco.
